What is the difference between Kolkata and Calcutta
In Jan 2001, Calcutta was changed to Kolkatta. It is believed that the name Kolkatafairly sounded like Kalikata, one of three villages in this area where today Kolkata is present, before the arrival of British. It's also a belief that the name Kalikata was derived from Goddess Kali.
